Fire crews were initially called to a garage fire in the area of 38 Avenue and 47 Street at around 5:45 p.m.

When crews arrived, the garage was engulfed in flames. A travel trailer, which was parked on the driveway, was also on fire.

“We had the complications of a trailer also being on fire, so we were concerned about the propane tanks,” said Chief Brian Myroniuk with Edmonton Fire Rescue.

Myroniuk said crews were able to quickly put out the fire, but it was a bit of a tough battle.

“It was pretty tough because it started getting into the attic… and rafters and the insulation.”

The majority of the house was saved, Myroniuk said, but the front part of the home that was attached to the garage was damaged.

Damages are pegged at $675,000.
