Alberta Court of Appeal reduces sentence for notorious sex offender

A notorious child porn offender will be spending less time behind bars.

Eric Wanamaker was convicted of possessing child pornography, last year.

Police testified there were tens of thousands of images and videos of child pornography stored on his computer.

A judge sentenced him to two years in jail, followed by three years probation.

In an appeal, both the Crown and the Defence agreed the judge erred by not giving Wanamaker credit for time already served.

He now gets credit for 265 days served, which means he’ll likely be out of jail by the end of the year.
