Langenburg-area man dead after collision with grain truck

REGINA – A Langenburg-area man is dead after a collision between a grain truck and a pick-up truck near Marchwell on Tuesday morning.

The call came into police at about 10:20 a.m., RCMP said in a media release. The crash occurred at the intersection of two grid roads about five kilometres south of Marchwell.

A grain truck driven by one male collided with a pick-up truck with two male occupants. The driver of the grain truck was transported to hospital in Esterhazy while the driver of the pick-up truck was transported to hospital in Yorkton.

The passenger of the pick-up truck, a male from the Langenburg area, was declared deceased at the scene. Age of the deceased has yet to be confirmed and notification of the next of kin has yet to be completed.

Police at the scene reported that visibility at the time of the collision was reduced due to a heavy fog in the area, RCMP said.

Assisting with the investigation is a RCMP traffic reconstructionist. EMS from Langenburg and the Langenburg Fire Department also assisted at the scene of the collision.
