ABOVE: The PNE superdogs are all trained up to unleash their star power at this year’s fair. Jennifer Palma went backstage to meet two of the dog stars.
Superdog Gabby may be cute, but she doesn’t just get by on her looks alone.
She likes to solve math problems.
“She actually started doing math when she was about 12 weeks old,” said Gabby’s owner. “She just started adding and things and we were like ‘this is great’.”
Gabby and her ‘crew’ perform all summer across Canada at the Superdogs shows and now they are at the PNE for the next few weeks.
The dogs are rotated so that they never get burned out.
About 40 dogs and 15 trainers take part in the show and this year’s theme is ‘Hollywoof’.
Owners say the key to having a super dog is “perseverance” and “positive reinforcement.”
