Following a session this morning at the Television Critics Association summer press tour for his upcoming CNBC show Jay Leno’s Garage, Jay Leno was asked by a Deadline reporter about his thoughts on Bill Cosby, who had sat on the other side of Leno’s Tonight Show desk numerous times and even filled in for Johnny Carson as guest host on numerous occasions.

“Bill Cosby is a wonderful comedian and has always been a nice man. I feel bad about this as anybody does,” Leno told journalists, “but I don’t know how he comes out of it.”

At this point, Leno added, the only option he sees for the embattled comedian is to “admit what went on.”

Leno also had some harsh words for those questioning the motives of the dozens of women who’ve come forward to accuse the Cosby Show star of sexual assault, in some cases decades after the alleged occurrences.

“Fifty women come forward and [the media] calls them liars, and says, ‘Oh, you waited 40 years.’ Men waited 50 years to say that a priest touched them and got $7 million. How can we believe them and not the women? It seems terribly sexist to me,” said Leno. “It seems unfair and I’m surprised no one has made that analogy.”
