Federal Election 2015: Hastings-Lennox and Addington riding results

Summary: Carved from two rural seats that both elected a Conservative MP in 2011, Darryl Kramp is looking to win Hastings-Lennox and Addington and a fifth term in the House of Commons.

Boundaries: A narrow riding stretching north from Lake Ontario, this riding includes most of Hastings (excluding Trenton and Belleville) and Lennox and Addington County. It goes as far north along Highway 62 and 127 to the outskirts of Barry’s Bay.

Last Election: This is a new seat created from parts of Prince Edward-Hastings (which elected Conservative MP Daryl Kramp by 29.5 per cent in 2011) and Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington (which elected Conservative MP Scott Reid by 36.6 per cent in 2011).

Kramp is running again, and had this riding existed in the last election, the Conservatives would have taken it by 30.9 per cent more votes than the NDP (based on polling results).

History: This area has typically been friendly to the Conservative and Progressive Conservative Party, with ridings encompassing the area only going to the Liberals between 1993 and 2004.

Demographics: English is the first language of 94.9 per cent of people this riding as of the 2011 census, the highest number in Ontario.

NDP: Betty Bannon, former president of the Union of Taxation Employees

Liberals: Mike Bossio, entrepreneur, former Chair of Concerned Citizens of Tyendinaga and Environs

Greens: Cameron Mather, author
