Summary: Conservative MP Parm Gill seeks re-election in Brampton North, a riding renamed and significantly reduced in size due to redistribution.
Boundaries: Generally includes all areas in Brampton north of Williams Parkway, east of Highway 10, and west of Torbram Road, though there are some exceptions.
Last Election: This is a new seat created primarily, but not exclusively, from Brampton-Springdale, which Gill won by by 20.4 per cent over three-term Liberal MP Ruby Dhalla in 2011. It also includes small amounts of Brampton West and Bramalea-Gore-Malton.
Had this riding existed in the last election, the Conservatives would have taken it by 20.7 per cent more votes than the Liberals (based on polling results).
History: Prior to last election, Brampton had solely elected Liberal MPs since 1993. However, last election the Conservatives won all three seats.
Demographics: There is an average of 1.4 children per household, fifth highest in Ontario. In the 2011 census, 19.2 per cent of people said they were born in India, the third highest percentage in Canada, behind only Brampton East and Surrey-Newton.
