Federal Election 2015: Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie riding results

Summary: After finishing third in 2008, the NDP’s Alexandre Boulerice surged to a surprise victory in this riding 2011, and will try to win re-election this year.

Boundaries: The boundaries of this eastern Montreal riding are nearly unchanged for this election. It includes the neighbourhood of Petite-Patrie and the western part of Rosemont.

Last Election: Alexandre Boulerice won the seat for the first time for the NDP, beating the BQ’s Bernard Bigras by 9,782 votes.

History: The Bloc Québécois had represented this riding for 21 years when the NDP claimed it in 2011. Bigras had been the MP since 1997.

Demographics: The median age was 36.7 in the 2011 census, making it the seventh youngest riding in the province.
