Federal Election 2015: Portneuf-Jacques-Cartier riding results

Summary: Élaine Michaud won this seat for the NDP in 2011, defeating independent MP André Arthur, a popular former radio host. Michaud is seeking re-election. Voters here will have the option to vote for a Conservative candidate for the first time since 2006. The party did not run a candidate here in 2008 or 2011.

Boundaries: This is a large riding northwest of Quebec City. It includes the city of Saint-Augustin-de-Demaures, as well as the county municipalities of Portneuf and La Jacques-Cartier.

Last Election: The NDP’s Michaud won with 42.7 per cent of the vote. The independent, Arthur, earned 27.8 per cent. 

History: This seat was held by the Bloc Québécois from 2004 until 2006, when Arthur’s personal popularity propelled him to victory.
