Federal Election 2015: Northwest Territories riding results

Summary: NDP MP Dennis Bevington is seeking re-election in Northwest Territories, where he has ran in every election since 2000.

Boundaries: This riding comprises all of the Northwest Territories.

Last Election: Bevington defeated Conservative candidate Sandy Lee by 13.7 per cent.

History: Bevington was first elected in 2006 in his third attempt to unseat Liberal MP Ethel Blondin-Andrew, who had held this riding since 1988. Prior to that, Progressive Conservative Dave Nickerson held this territory between 1979 and 1988.

Demographics: 53.3 per cent of people in the Northwest Territories identified as Aboriginal in the 2011 Census, the fourth highest number for an electoral district in Canada.
