Boundaries: Includes the Garden City and Seven Oaks neighbourhoods, all of Winnipeg north of them, and the two St. Paul’s municipalities.
Last Election: Conservative MP Joy Smith defeated NDP candidate Rachelle Devine by 28.1 per cent to win her fourth straight term in this riding.
History: Smith has held the riding for its entire existence. Prior to her, Liberal MP Rey Pagtakhan held the similarly-shaped Winnipeg North-St. Paul riding from 1997 to 2004.
Demographics: 20.5 per cent of people in this riding have German origins (fifth highest in the country), 13.5 per cent have Polish origins (highest in the country) and 25.7 per cent have Ukranian origins (second highest in the country), according to the 2011 National Household Survey.
