Federal Election 2015: Edmonton-Wetaskiwin riding results

Summary: Conservative MP Mike Lake, who has represented Edmonton Mill Woods since 2006, is seeking re-election in this new riding, which was created to accommodate Edmonton’s growing population.

Boundaries: This riding combines Edmonton’s southernmost neighbourhoods, and the suburbs of Beaumont and Leduc, with a large rural area that includes Wetaskiwin.

Last Election: In 2011, voters within the boundaries of this new riding voted 75 per cent Conservative, followed by 14 per cent NDP.

History: This riding includes parts of three former ridings, all of which have long voted Conservative. Past MP’s here include Conservatives James Rajotte (Edmonton-Leduc), Blaine Calkins (Red Deer), and Mike Lake. Rajotte is retiring. Calkins will now run in Red Deer-Lacombe.
