International cadets visit Vernon Cadet Training Centre

Watch: Scottish cadets weigh-in on how the Vernon Cadet Training Centre compares to their cadet experiences at home.

VERNON – It’s a sign of the summer in Vernon, every year hundreds of cadets come to the city to attend the Vernon Cadet Training Centre.

The cadet camp typically hosts cadets from all across western Canada. Now, for the first time in many years, it is hosting a group of international cadets. Scottish cadets are spending two weeks at the Vernon Cadet Training Centre.

“I think it gives them a broader horizon. They can see how another country works, how another cadet unit works,” says Lt. Mark Civil from the U.K.’s Army Cadet Force. “A lot of these kids have probably never been out of the U.K.”

Throughout the summer, around 1,500 cadets attend the Vernon Cadet Training Centre.
