REGINA – Going to the movies early to skip the snack lines or get a good seat can be a good idea, but what do you do with that extra time?

While you’re sitting in your seat waiting for your cinematic adventure to begin, one Saskatoon resident is hoping to bring a bit of the prairies to the pre-show.

Tanner Zipchen is the only Saskatchewan born finalist in Cineplex’s casting call contest.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The top three vote-getters from the ten remaining finalists will earn a chance to become the Cineplex pre-show host for a year.

Along with hosting duties, the winner will also receive free movies for a year and appear in the Cineplex magazine.

While Zipchen is up against people from larger cities, he is hopeful Saskatchewan’s ability to come together will give him an edge.

“That’s what we do best here in Saskatchewan. We really rally for our own,” said Zipchen.

“Whether it’s getting The Sheepdogs on the cover of Rolling Stone or our Rider pride we really come together. I am up against Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, Vancouver, all these massive cities and we’re holding our own. So it’s really cool to see everyone come together and vote for the Saskatchewan guy.”

You can vote in the contest once every 24 hours at www.cineplex.com/castingcall.
