Calgary man charged with child pornography involving at least 16 kids

CALGARY – A Calgary man has been arrested and charged with 77 child pornography-related offences.

A police team specializing in Internet child exploitation was tipped by several sources, including RCMP in Cochrane, Fort McMurray, Drumheller and a social networking website, as well parents and a 14-year-old alleged victim.

Each complaint was filed separately with different agencies and forwarded to the team for further investigation.

Police say there are 16 victims, all residents of Alberta, between the ages of 11 and 16.

Investigators were able to piece together information that led them to one person they allege contacted victims through various social networking sites.

Daniel Thomas Mackie, who is 25, of Calgary, is charged with making, possessing, accessing and distributing child pornography, child luring, invitation to sexual touching, extortion, and impersonation.
