5 things you should know about the Festival de Lanaudière

MONTREAL – The Festival de Lanaudière is celebrating its 38th year — and with 28 events planned, organizers are showing no sign of slowing down.

The festival is running from July 4 to August 2 in Joliette.

But did you know it’s not just for classical music fans? Organizers say there’s something for everyone – from families, to movie buffs and even yogis.

Here are five fun facts that you might not have known about the Festival de Lanaudière:

1. It’s the largest classical music festival in Canada.

2. The ambassador of the festival is world-renowned pianist Alain Lefèvre, who performs with the MSO on July 31.

3. There are free outdoor yoga classes on Saturday mornings.

4. There are outdoor movies. One of them – the Phantom of the Opera – will be accompanied by an orchestra and soprano soloist.

5. There are shuttles on weekend nights from both downtown, at Info-Touriste booth on Peel and Dorchester Square, as well as Radisson metro station.
