EDMONTON – A St. Albert woman has been charged, and a man is facing charges, in connection with an assault that took place west of Edmonton.
Evansburg RCMP were called to the Pembina River Provincial Park Campground around 8 p.m. Sunday, June 7.
Officers arrived on scene to find EMS personnel treating a woman with several cuts on her face. She was taken to hospital but has since been released, police said Thursday.
RCMP believe two large groups were involved in multiple altercations at a local beach prior to the assault.
Katrina Ironeagle, 30, has been charged with one count of aggravated assault with the intent to wound/maim. She is scheduled to appear in Evansburg Provincial Court on September 14.
A man has also been arrested in connection with the assault and police say charges against him are pending. His name has not been released.
RCMP are asking anyone who witnessed the assault to contact the Evansburg detachment at 780-727-3654.
