YARMOUTH, N.S. – Nova Scotia’s Justice Department says an inmate who was found dead in a cell at a correctional facility in Yarmouth committed suicide.
The 44-year-old man was found in his cell shortly before 10 p.m. last Wednesday.
The department says the medical examiner ruled the death a suicide.
The man had been remanded to the Southwest Nova Scotia Correctional Facility on charges of robbery, wearing a disguise during commission of an offence and possession of property obtained by crime.
The department says he was arrested Dec. 19.
The government says it will not release the man’s name because of departmental policy.
