WATCH ABOVE: Twitter was abuzz after an escaped peacock delighted (and probably scared some) onlookers in Toronto’s Roncesvalles neighbourhood. The colourful bird was seen hopping from roof to roof after escaping from nearby High Park Zoo.
TORONTO – Bird sightings are quite common in large cities across North America but one Toronto neighbourhood is dealing with a rather unique feathered creature roaming the streets — a peacock that had escaped from a nearby urban zoo.
Witnesses have taken to Twitter to document the unusual bird activity spotted in the Roncesvalles area of the city on Friday.
“Happening right now: escaped #peacock from @HighParkZoo on my roof! Anyone help?,” wrote area resident Rebecca Davies on Twitter.
A video of the peacock was also posted on YouTube with the creature seen jumping from roof-to-roof.

Toronto Animal Services are on the hunt for the bird that escaped from the High Park Zoo in west-end Toronto earlier this week.
Authorities are asking the public to call 311 if anyone sees the creature.
