Body of Châteauguay resident Ernest Rochon found in submerged van

MONTREAL — Châteauguay police have confirmed the body discovered in a vehicle in the Châteauguay River is that of 79-year-old Ernest Rochon.

Rochon was last seen in on April 3, and a $3,000 reward from Sun Youth was offered in an effort to help find the missing man.

He was last seen just before lunch at the Petro Canada on Notre Dame Ouest in Montreal.

After what appeared to be Rochon’s missing red Kia Sedona was spotted in the river, Quebec provincial police divers were called in to pull the minivan from the water.

An investigation is underway to determine what happened.
