Grandparents meet baby born on Air Canada flight

VANCOUVER — It was quite the reunion at the Victoria International Airport Sunday.

Sandra and David Branch from Penticton met their granddaughter, Chloe Grace Guan Branch for the first time. The baby was born on an Air Canada flight from Calgary to Tokyo on May 10, Mother’s Day.

Ada Guan and Wes Branch — the baby’s parents — said they had no idea Ada was 37-weeks pregnant. In fact, they didn’t know she was pregnant at all.

Ada was complaining of chest pains on the flight. Flight attendants gave her a spot in first class where she could lie down. Luckily, there were also three doctors on board the flight.

“She told me, ‘Something fell out of me.’ I lifted up her pants and I saw a head and then I heard, ‘Wah,'” explained Wes.

“I thought it was a dream,” Sandra told Global News Sunday.

“I was so stoked to give my daughter to my mother and see the look on her face,” said Wes.
