OAKVILLE, Ont. – Ontario’s police watchdog has identified a man who was shot dead by officers outside a police station in Oakville as 43-year-old Kyle Newman of Oakville.
The Special Investigations Unit says the incident unfolded just before noon Thursday, when a man was seen causing damage in the parking lot outside the station.

Police say officers went outside to deal with the problem and there was an “interaction” between the officers and the man.
The SIU investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
Also Thursday, police were called to a residence in Oakville where a woman was found dead shortly before noon.
Halton police identified the victim as Katherine Newman, 43, and said the circumstances of her death were suspicious.
Police haven’t said whether the two incidents are linked.
