Edmonton police search for suspect after woman sexually assaulted while jogging

EDMONTON — Police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for a 33-year-old man believed to be involved in a sexual assault and robbery in Edmonton.

Police say a 37-year-old woman was assaulted on Saturday, April 11 while jogging in the area of 116 Avenue and 102 Street. It happened around 6:30 p.m.

Ashton Dennis Natomagan is wanted on the following charges:

  • robbery
  • assault with a weapon
  • choking with the intent to overcome resistance
  • kidnapping
  • unlawful confinement
  • sexual assault with threats to cause bodily harm
  • possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public
  • uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm

The 33-year-old was released from the Grande Cache Institution in early March, after serving just over five years for sexual assault causing bodily harm. Two days later, a Canada-wide warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to return to his halfway house, which was a violation of his parole.

Natomagan is described as an Aboriginal male, 5’11” and 170 pounds. He has a bald head or very short hair.
