Man found dead in burned out car in Stony Plain identified

EDMONTON — The death of a man whose body was found inside a burned out vehicle near Stony Plain last week is being investigated as a homicide.

RCMP say the man has been identified as 25-year-old Grant Potts of the Alexis First Nation.

On Friday, Potts’ body was found inside a burned out car just north of Highway 16, between Range Roads 13 and 14 west of Stony Plain.

The RCMP is asking the public for information about Potts’ whereabouts on or before April 3. Officers are also asking people to come forward with information if they saw a red, four-door 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix in or around the Stony Plain area that day. Information can be submitted to the Stony Plain RCMP detachment at 780-968-7200 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
