Gerard Deltell quits CAQ to enter federal politics

MONTREAL – Gerard Deltell, an MNA with Coalition Avenir Quebec, has announced he will run in the next federal election as a Conservative.

Deltell, who has been an MNA for almost seven years, currently represents the provincial riding of Chauveau.

He was the final leader of the Action démocratique du Québec (ADQ).

His announcement comes on the one year anniversary of the Couillard government’s time in power.

According to sources, Deltell plans to resign his seat in the National Assembly immediately.

He wants to run in the federal riding of Louis St. Laurent, which includes part of his current Quebec riding.

The Conservatives lost that seat during the orange wave of the NDP in 2011.
