RCMP investigate Port Hawksbury fire that claimed the life of a nine year-old boy

Amanda Bagley, 34, remains in critical condition. Oaklee Bagley, 9, died Monday morning due to the injuries he sustained in the fire.

Port Hawkesbury, N.S.- A Port Hawkesbury boy died in hospital this morning after succumbing to injuries sustained in a house fire Friday.

A 34-year-old woman remains in critical condition.

The woman and boy are being identified on social media as mother and son Amanda Bagley and Oaklee Bagley. Their identities have yet to be confirmed by officials.

A Fundrazr page called ‘The Amanda and Oaklee Bagely Fundraising Drive,’ has raised over $3,400. The page says that money raised will help the Bagley family with present and future challenges caused by the fire.

Port Hawkesbury Fire Marshal and RCMP continue to investigate the blaze.

Fire crews and RCMP responded to the call on Bourinot Drive around 9:40 pm Friday.

Police say both the boy and woman were transported to hospital after sustaining injuries in the fire.

An autopsy is scheduled for this week.
