TORONTO – An attempted carjacking in Smyrna, Georgia didn’t go quite as planned last Friday after the victim decided to fight back, along with a good Samaritan, to thwart the crime which was all caught on camera.
As captured on surveillance cameras, a red minivan pulls up next to the victim’s car at the car wash. A juvenile male suspect approaches the car, gets in and tries to drive off.
The victim attempts to stop the carjackers by leaping onto the hood of her car. But, the carjackers drive away with the woman holding on to the hood.

That’s when a city employee, witnessing the crime, pulled out his own gun, ran toward the car and shot the suspect in the shoulder.
Car wash employee Chris Roberts tells WXIA, “I heard the guy shoot the carjacker. Then I saw him fall out of the car and he was shaking, holding his chest. Then he falls on the floor.”
The city employee, who was not identified, held the suspect at gunpoint until officers arrived, according to Smyrna Police.
The juvenile suspect was taken to hospital and is listed in stable condition.
Police said he will be charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanour theft by taking a motor vehicle.
The other suspects who were in the minivan are still being sought by police.
