Crews retrieve man overboard from Queen of Oak Bay ferry

BC Ferries has confirmed a man was retrieved after going overboard from the Queen of Oak Bay ferry Monday afternoon.

At 4:15 p.m., passengers witnessed a man jump overboard the ferry, which had just left Horseshoe Bay on its way to Nanaimo.

The captain immediately stopped the vessel and began a search effort. Crew members of the Queen of Cowichan, which was travelling in the opposite direction, also joined in the search.

BC Ferries says the man has been retrieved and transported to hospital.

The also say they are cancelling all remaining sailings of the Queen of Oak Bay tonight.
