WATCH: Elephants traveling from New Orleans save truck from overturning

Three elephants on their way from New Orleans to Frisco, Texas played an integral part to their safe journey on Tuesday when they saved an 18-wheeler from overturning.

Police say they received a call earlier this morning requesting assistance with an 18-wheeler truck stranded on Interstate 19 in Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana. The driver had pulled over onto the edge of a soft shoulder and got stuck.

In a statement, police say they were “astounded to find two elephants keeping the 18-wheeler from overturning.”

Video from the incident shows two of the elephants climbing out of the tractor trailer and leaning up against the truck.

Reports say the elephants kept the truck upright until a wrecker arrived to help free the truck from the shoulder.

No injuries were reported and the elephants are scheduled to appear with the Shrine Circus this week in Texas.
