National Assembly Medal of Honour awarded to three Quebecers

QUEBEC – Entomologist Georges Brossard, sports commentator Jacques Doucet and Olympic medal winner Sylvie Fréchette were awarded the National Assembly Medal of Honour Tuesday.

Jacques Doucet, aged 71, was a French sports commentator for 34 Montreal Expos seasons. Over his career, Doucet described more than 5,000 Major League Baseball games.

Sylvie Fréchette, aged 41, won a gold medal in the 1992 Summer Olympics and a silver medal in the 1996 Summer Olympics in synchronized swimming.

Georges Brossard, also 71 years of age, is a noted entomologist and founder of the Montreal Insectarium.
