EDMONTON — A 41-year-old man was found dead inside a Grande Prairie home following a fire late Tuesday night.

Emergency crews were called to a fire in the area of 94 Avenue and 102 Street around 11:30 p.m. The house was engulfed by flames.

Witnesses on scene told fire crews there may be a person inside the house, but RCMP say it wasn’t safe for firefighters to enter the building. The fire was brought under control around 1:40 a.m. Wednesday.

Police do not believe the house was being lived in at the time. The victim has been identified as a 41-year-old man from Grande Prairie, although his name is not being released at this time.

An autopsy will be performed on the man to determine how he died.
