EDMONTON — Travis Vader is back in police custody after being arrested on Saturday night for breaching his bail conditions. RCMP said they were called to a rural residence near Edson, and charged him with six counts of breach of recognizance and one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Vader is scheduled to appear at the Edson courthouse via CCTV on March 17.
Vader is also facing charges for the deaths of two Edmonton-area seniors whose bodies have never been found. He was first charged in 2012 with two counts of first-degree murder in the 2010 deaths of Lyle and Marie McCann.
Both counts were stayed in March 2014, a few weeks before Vader was to face a jury trial. Police had a year in which to re-activate the charges, and did so on December 19, 2014. Four days later, Vader was released on 24/7 house arrest, with the exception of medical emergencies or meeting with his counsel or bail supervisor. His murder trial is scheduled to begin in spring of 2016.
In February, Vader was charged with assault and breach of recognizance after an alleged incident involving his mother’s boyfriend at her residence. For that charge, he is scheduled to appear in St. Albert provincial court on March 9.

The McCanns, both in their 70s, were last seen fuelling up their motorhome in their hometown of St. Albert in July 2010. They were on their way to a family camping trip in British Columbia.
Their burned out motorhome was discovered west of Edmonton a few days later.
Mounties soon named Vader a person of interest and later a suspect, and he was held on unrelated charges until he was charged with the killings in 2012.
Earlier this year, he filed lawsuits against prosecutors and the RCMP, claiming malicious prosecution. He alleges he was kept in custody on trumped-up charges until he could be charged with murdering the McCanns. He also claims mistreatment by staff at the Edmonton Remand Centre.
