MONTREAL — Quebec provincial police are investigating after a seven-year-old girl was fatally wounded on Thursday night.
The incident took place at a home on Léo-Gravelle Street in Vaudreuil-Dorion.
According to the Sûrété du Québec, the girl was attacked with a sharp object, possibly a knife, by her mother, who then tried to harm herself.
The father called 911 at around 9:30 p.m.

The mother, father and child were transported to hospital, where the daughter was pronounced dead. The mother is listed in critical condition and the father was treated for shock.
Investigators have set up a command post in the home and are trying to piece together the events leading up to the incident.
