TORONTO — Christian Grey goes shopping for BDSM supplies in a scene released Monday from the highly anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey movie.
In the clip, Grey (Jamie Dornan) stops in at Clayton’s Hardware Store, where Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) works.
After Grey asks for cable ties and masking tape, Steele asks: “Are you redecorating?”
His response: “No.”
The tense scene continues as Steele collects a length of rope Grey requests.
“Rope, tape, cable ties,” she comments. “You’re the complete serial killer.”
“Not today,” Grey says.
The scene, which debuted on Today, was filmed in January 2014 at Ladner Village Hardware in Delta, B.C.

Set for release on Feb. 13, Fifty Shades of Grey is based on the wildly popular erotic novel by E.L. James. The steamy film received an R rating in the U.S. but is restricted to persons over 18 in the U.K.
According to the British Board of Film Classification, Fifty Shades contains “strong sex and nudity, along with the portrayal of erotic role play based on domination, submission and sado-masochistic practices. There are also strong verbal references to such practices and the instruments used.”
In Canada, ratings vary from province to province.
The Ontario Film Review Board has given it an 18A (persons under 18 must be accompanied by an adult), warning of “partial or full nudity in a brief sexual situation,” “limited instances of nudity in a sexual situation,” and “implied sexual activity” along with other content.
Morality in Media, has publicly opposed the R rating in the U.S., which restricts the movie to individuals 17 and older, unless accompanied by an adult.
Dornan has said the film has no depictions of “forced sexual situations.”
He explained: “Half the book is about making contracts. Permission and agreement that this be done.”
Dornan also said audiences won’t get to see all of Grey’s anatomy.
“There were contracts in place that said viewers wouldn’t be seeing my, um… my todger,” he said.
“You want to appeal to as wide an audience as possible without grossing them out. You don’t want to make something gratuitous, and ugly, and graphic.”
The movie, which was filmed in and around Vancouver, is expected to debut on top of the box office. It opens at the start of a holiday weekend in the U.S. and many parts of Canada.
