Global Speakers Series highlights Ebola crisis

KELOWNA– Global Citizen Kelowna kicked off it’s annual lineup of events on Monday.

Each event celebrates the role Kelowna citizens play in international humanitarian efforts.

Monday’s Global Speakers Series zeroed in on the Ebola Crisis in West Africa.

The crowd at the Rotary Centre For the Arts heard from speakers who are working on the ground in Ebola hot spots.

Kendell Kauffeldt is the Ebola Response Manager for Samaritan’s Purse.

He has lived with his family in Liberia for a decade and he says now more than ever, we all need to understand this is not just a West Africa issue it is a global challenge.

Following the information session, people were invited to visit the Global Marketplace to learn more about the local organizations working to create positive global change.
