Trial hears of sex on routine basis between boy and former Prince Albert teacher

A jury has heard that a former Saskatchewan teacher held hands with a male student she’s accused of sexually exploiting and cavorted with him in a hot tub during a school choir field trip to Alberta.

The testimony came Tuesday at the trial for Bonnie McLachlan in Prince Albert, Sask.

The former Grade 9 teacher was charged after an investigation into an alleged teacher-student relationship in the early 1990s.

A witness who was a classmate of the complainant told the court that he rode with McLachlan in her car during the trip to Red Deer and Banff and that the accused and alleged victim touched each other during the ride.

Another former classmate testified he saw McLachlan straddle the boy in a hot tub while she kissed and hugged him.

The student who revealed his alleged involvement with the teacher last year testified on Monday that their relationship began through a mutual interest in fitness and led to sexual encounters on a routine basis.
