Man walks away from crash after being pancaked between trucks

TORONTO – A man from Washington state walked away from a massive pileup Saturday after his vehicle was sandwiched between two trucks.

Kaleb Whitby was travelling on the I-84 when he was involved in a 50-vehicle accident near Baker City, Oregon.

Whitby’s truck was pancaked between two big rigs as a result of the crash.

Amazingly, he walked away with only a few scratches.

“When I realized what had happened, I looked out my back passenger window and I could see lights coming at me,” the soon-to-be father told CBS News. “So it was that time that all I could do was pray and close my eyes and hold on tight to the steering wheel.”

More than 100 people were reportedly involved in the crash that critically injured at least four people.

It took emergency crews about 30 minutes to free Whitby, who was taken to hospital only after he assisted others who were involved in the crash.

“I’ve got two Band-Aids on my right ring finger,” Whitby told The Oregonian. “And a little bit of ice on my left eye.”
