REGINA – The Adam Cyr second degree murder trial resumed Wednesday after a day-long recess with the defense recalling a witness to the stand.
Adam Cyr is charged with the murder of two-year-old Natalia Shingoose, but on Wednesday his defense accused crown witness Matthew Bennett of killing the toddler.
Bennett denied the accusation.
The defense showed a video of Bennett’s police interrogation and focused on poking holes in his testimony.
Bennett maintains he was walking past Shingoose’s home when he saw the front door open and feared a break and enter. He said he awoke the girl’s mother and Cyr, her then boyfriend.
When nothing was missing from the home, he checked on Natalia and he says she appeared to be unharmed.
The trial resumes Thursday morning and is expected to last another week and a half.
