Prisoner on the lam in Nanaimo after escaping from police interview

Nanaimo RCMP are searching for a 25-year-old prisoner who escaped during an interview Tuesday afternoon.

Alexander Trinkwon was being interviewed at the Nanaimo RCMP detachment around 3:30 p.m. when he bolted.

A “significant” number of police resources were deployed to search for Trinkwon, including a police dog. The dog was able to establish a track, but lost it on Bowen Road near Buttertubs Marsh.

Trinkwon was in custody, pending a court appearance tomorrow. He is facing charges of Possession of Stolen Property, Break and Enter, and Possession of Break and Enter tools. A charge of Escape Lawful Custody will now be added to the list.

Trinkwon was last seen wearing blue jeans, a t-shirt, and “stocking feet.”
