Vancouver Police say the Independent Investigations Office and coroners service are looking into the death of a 58-year-old woman while in police custody.
Police say that shortly after 6 a.m. on December 15, police responded to a 9-1-1 call about the woman. She was arrested and taken in a police wagon to jail.
Upon her arrival at the jail, she was found unresponsive in the wagon.
Paramedics were called and she was taken to hospital, where she died on December 23.
Police say the cause of her death is not “readily apparent” and the coroner will determine how the woman died.
