The extant of flooding in Courtenay can be seen from the air. Dave John

UPDATE: Dec. 11 – Due to the decreased threat of flood in the area, the City of Courtenay is rescinding the evacuation alert issued on Dec. 10 for the Puntledge and Tsolum Rivers area. The water levels are receding and the rainfall forecast looks more promising.

However, a boil water advisory has been issued for Courtenay due to the flooding. Residents are advised to boil their water for at least one minute. Those in need of shelter can go to Pidcock Shelter, 632 Pidcock Ave.

In addition, Bracken Park is park is still closed, along with trails in Little River nature park and Hawkins Greenway. The King Coho Greenway bridge crossing is also closed until further notice.
