Surrey woman says cab company refused her taxi chit, threw her out of cab

A Surrey woman says her taxi chit was refused and she was kicked to the curb after trying to redeem it to get home to Surrey.

Abigail Fougere got into a Bonny’s Taxi in Burnaby after celebrating at her corporate Christmas party last weekend.

She had a Bonny’s Taxi voucher for a free trip provided by her employer.

Fougere says it accidentally ripped while she took it out of her purse.

She says the driver became extremely hostile and told her to be more careful, and then began yelling after hearing she needed a ride to Surrey.

In the end, he refused to honour her voucher and kicked her out of the cab.

After Global News began making inquiries the cab company, the driver was suspended immediately.

Bonny’s issued the following statement to Global News:

“We at Bonny’s Taxi do not tolerate this kind of behaviors from any driver towards any patron at all. We provide adequate training to our drivers about customer service and take action immediately if we receive any complaint from patrons.”

This is the second time over the past few weeks a driver has refused service for a voucher.

A Kelowna woman and her sick child were refused service last month at B.C. Children’s Hospital.

The four main Vancouver cab companies have said they will now honour all company vouchers.
