Road conditions possible factor in deadly northern Alberta collision

EDMONTON – One person died Wednesday after a collision near Grande Prairie, in northwestern Alberta.

The two-vehicle crash happened on Highway 40 between a logging truck and pick-up truck, resulting in the death of the driver of the pick-up truck.

Police say he was pronounced deceased when emergency responders arrived at a scene – about 50 kilometres south of Grande Prairie – at around 5 p.m. The driver of the log truck was not injured.

Investigators believe the the northbound semi collided with the southbound pick-up. It’s believed road conditions were a factor in the fatal collision.

Police have not released the identity of the man killed in the crash.
