Surfers off the coast of Vancouver Island are being called heroes after rescuing some stranded fishermen.
The three fishermen were in a boat that capsized near Port Renfrew on Wednesday.
The surfers immediately paddled over while someone on shore rushed to get help.

They managed to bring two of the fishermen to shore. The third man was able to climb on top of the overturned boat. He and one of the surfers waited there together until emergency crews arrived.
“They were in the water for about 40 minutes with no life jackets, just their clothes on,” said another surfer Raph Bruhwiler. “There were no other boats around, so I pretty much think that the surfers definitely saved their lives”
