Justice Wollman, 8, Mallak Chelbi, 10, Dane Womacks, 10, and Kaylee Wilson, 11, became Global News reporters for the day.
The kids, who are with the Kids with Cancer Society, stopped by the station to spend a day in the life of a news reporter.
The kids started their day in the control room, learning everything from producing to directing a television newscast. Then, they joined Global Edmonton’s Chief Meteorologist Nicola Crosbie on set during the Noon News Hour to deliver the weather forecast.
After a quick pizza lunch, it was time for the reporters to conduct their interviews and gather the elements for their story. Global Morning and Noon News anchors Shaye Ganam and Erin Chalmers helped the kids come up with hard-hitting questions.
With the help of Global Edmonton’s health reporter, Su-Ling Goh, the kids wrote and put together their story. The topic? How Halloween compares to the life of a news reporter. Justice, Mallak, Dane and Kaylee quickly learned that both worlds involve a lot of make up and candy.
