A plane from New York was quarantined at the McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas Friday over fears that a passenger who vomited on board the aircraft had the Ebola virus.
The passenger aboard the Delta Airlines flight from JFK airport in New York had recently traveled to Africa, the airport announced via Twitter:
A medical exam determined the passenger did not have the virus, which has now claimed more than 4,000 lives in West Africa, according to the latest figures from the World Health Organization.
One person in the U.S. has also died from the Ebola virus.
Ambulances surrounded the plane after it landed at the McCarran International Airport, according to U.S. media reports. But after the medical exam, everyone aboard the plane was allowed to leave and no one was sent to hospital.
Health officials in Quebec say they are investigating a suspected Ebola case in the province’s Abitibi-Témiscamingue region. The patient who is showing symptoms has had contact with travelers from one of the affected countries in West Africa, the health agency said.
