EDMONTON — Thousands of Edmontonians filled the streets with pink Sunday morning for the annual CIBC Run for the Cure.

About 10,000 people were in attendance for the event, which raises funds for breast cancer research, education and advocacy initiatives.

“We’re just so glad to have so many Edmontonians here supporting the great cause towards a future without breast cancer,” said Amanda Leblanc, a spokesperson for Edmonton’s Run for the Cure. “Everybody’s wearing pink, they’re all rallying to support anybody who has been affected by breast cancer.”

Katherine Chan is one of those people. She’s been cancer-free for four and a half years and says it’s amazing to see the growing support for the event.
