The alleged victim is nine years old; police didn’t say if the child is a boy or a girl. The assaults are alleged to have been committed near Ashern.
The RCMP said the force asked Brandon police to take over the investigation Saturday; the RCMP major crimes unit is helping in the investigation.
The suspect was not on duty as a police officer at the time of the alleged offences, police said. He’s been released pending a court appearance in Ashern on Nov. 19.
