Aylward says his party would work with groups such as the Save Our People Action Committee to identify areas in the province prone to moose-vehicle collisions and put up fencing to keep the large animals off highways.

There are about 800 collisions a year between moose and vehicles.

The province announced a $5-million dollar pilot project in July that includes placing moose fencing along the Trans-Canada Highway and a flashing-light detector system to warn drivers of moose near the roadway.

Voters go to the polls October 11th.
