EDMONTON – A 54-year-old man is in hospital after he was struck by a vehicle while riding his electric bicycle in northwest Edmonton Friday morning.
Shortly after 6 a.m., police say the man was riding on a sidewalk in the area of 132 Avenue and 127 Street, when he was struck by a car that was turning into a gas station parking lot.
Police say the car then drove away from the scene.
The 54-year-old man was able to return home, where he had a friend take him to hospital. Police say the man suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. He remains in hospital Friday night.
The cyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time.
Officers are now searching for the driver of the car. They are also looking for a passerby who briefly stopped to check on the man.
